External security posture monitoring

See your organisation the way an attacker does.

Perimeter looks at your domains from the outside, grades what it finds from A to F, tells you exactly how to fix each issue, and keeps watching so you hear about changes before anyone else does.

Passive checks only. No agents, no port scans, nothing to install. Free for one domain, no card required.

What it checks

Eight categories. One honest grade.

Every finding comes with severity, the evidence we saw, a plain-language explanation and fix instructions. Scoring weights are published inside the app, so a grade is never a mystery.

How it works

From domain name to monitored in a few minutes.

Nothing to install and nothing to configure on your side beyond one DNS record.

  1. STEP 1

    Add a domain

Enter the apex domain. Perimeter discovers subdomains from certificate transparency logs and passive DNS, then finds the live web hosts.

  2. STEP 2

    Prove you own it

Publish one TXT record at _perimeter.yourdomain. Verification unlocks the full check set, faster rescans, alerts and a shareable scorecard.

  3. STEP 3

    Get a graded report

An overall score from 0 to 100 and a letter grade, broken down by category, with findings sorted by severity and a fix for each one.

  4. STEP 4

    Stay monitored

Perimeter rescans on your plan's cadence and emails you when a score drops, a high-severity finding appears, a certificate is about to expire or a new subdomain shows up.

Who it is for

Built for the people who answer "are we secure?"

Enterprise rating platforms are priced for enterprises. Perimeter is shaped for the teams that look after many small organisations, or one small organisation that still has to prove something.

Managed service providers

Monitor every client domain from one dashboard, catch the DMARC record a client's marketing agency quietly broke, and walk into the quarterly review with a grade and a fix list instead of a feeling.

  • Portfolio view across clients
  • Daily rescans and email alerts
  • White-label reports on the MSP plan

Cyber-insurance brokers

Get an objective, repeatable external view of an applicant before the questionnaire comes back, and show policyholders what to fix so they stay insurable.

  • Same checks, same weights, every time
  • Shareable read-only scorecards
  • Score history to show improvement

SMBs under NIS2 and DORA

If a regulator, auditor or larger customer now expects you to monitor your external exposure, Perimeter gives you evidence you are doing it without hiring a security team.

  • Continuous monitoring you can point to
  • Plain-language findings for non-specialists
  • Priced for a company of ten, not ten thousand

FAQ

Questions people ask before adding a domain.

Does Perimeter scan or probe my systems?

No. Perimeter runs passive checks only: DNS lookups, a TLS handshake with your public hostnames, an HTTP GET of your home page, and lookups in public certificate transparency logs and third-party datasets. It never port-scans, never attempts to exploit anything and never tests credentials. This applies to every domain, verified or not.

The full list of what we do and do not do is in the scanner policy.

How does ownership verification work?

When you add a domain, Perimeter gives you a unique token. Publish it as a TXT record at _perimeter.yourdomain.com with the value perimeter-verify=<token> and click verify. The record can stay in place; we re-check it periodically.

Unverified domains get the passive scorecard at monthly cadence and nothing else. Verification unlocks the full check set, your plan's scan cadence, alerts and the public scorecard link. This is deliberate: it stops Perimeter being used to watch domains you do not control.

What does the score actually mean?

Each category is scored from 0 to 100 based on weighted findings, and the overall score is a weighted combination of the categories. Letter grades map onto the overall score: A is 90 and above, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60. The weights are shown inside the app so you can see exactly why a finding cost what it did.

A score describes what is publicly observable about your external configuration. It is not a statement about your internal controls, your people or your incident history, and an A is not a guarantee that you cannot be breached.

A finding is wrong. How do I dispute it?

Every finding shows the raw evidence we captured (the DNS answer, the headers, the certificate). If you believe it is wrong, use the dispute button on the finding; it sends the evidence to our team and we reply by email. If it is a false positive we fix the check, not just your result. You can also mark a finding as accepted risk or false positive yourself; it is then excluded from your score and logged.

For a public scorecard of a domain you own but have not claimed, email abuse@cod3lab.com with the domain and the finding.

Where do the scanners connect from?

All checks come from two published IP addresses, 3.70.94.251 and 18.157.173.40, with the user agent PerimeterScanner/0.1 (+https://perimeter.cod3lab.com/scanner). You can allowlist them, rate-limit them or block them; blocking will simply make the affected checks report as unreachable. Details are in the scanner policy.

Can I check a domain I do not own?

You can add any domain and see its passive scorecard, which is the same information anyone with a terminal could gather in a few minutes. Free scans are rate-limited per account and per IP address, and only the verified owner can unlock more frequent scans, the remaining categories, alerts and the detailed evidence. If you are an MSP or broker acting for a client, ask them to publish the verification record; it takes two minutes.
